NVQ qualifications are
designed not only for
people who are beginning
a career in health and
safety but also those at
work who are not
specifically health and
safety professionals.
The aim is to develop,
promote and monitor the
effectiveness of
procedures to control
heath and safety in the
workplace and
subsequently minimise
the likelihood and
severity of accidents.
NVQs are therefore also
intended for those who
work in senior or
strategic positions such
as health and safety
Managers, officers,
advisors. Successful
candidates will
subsequently be able to
develop and implement
heath and safety
systems, risk
assessments and assist
in developing best
practice.
City and Guilds NVQ 3 &
4 – can be completed
over a four year period
but very much depends on
candidate position,
knowledge and
experience. HASMSL in
their professional
understanding have found
for practical and
successful completion
that between six months
and one year for NVQ 3
and between one and two
years for NVQ 4 are
realistic timescales.
