CASE STUDY TWO

A fatality at an SME resulted in major action by the enforcing authorities. HASMSL received a request to assist the business in the relevant remedial work. Consequently HASMSL put together a prioritised Action Plan to address the relevant issues and completely rebuild the organisations Safety Management System (SMS).

The SMS now in place has taken the business to a level considered to be industry best practice. Another excellent benefit from utilising the services of HASMSL is that the company’s insurers are now so confident in the SME approach to health and safety and its subsequent recent performance that it has, in the two years since the fatality, actually reduced the insurance premium in real terms by 30%.
